How Does Crowdology Work? Can You Earn A Little Extra Cash?

You spotted something on social media about Crowdology, and now the questions are churning. Exactly how does Crowdology work? Are people really making money on this platform? Is it worth my time, or is it something I would be better off to pass on?

These are all excellent questions, and ones you’re wise to seek answers to before you invest a lot of your valuable time. Moreover, I’ll be answering all of these queries and more in today’s Crowdology review.

So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the details of this program, shall we?

What is Crowdology?

Crowdology is an online platform (free to join) where consumers are paid to complete market research surveys. Do you like the idea of sharing your opinions and making a difference? Many brands and organizations need your help in gathering feedback for product development decisions.

Savanta Group Limited, a media research firm with offices in London and New York, currently appears to own and operate Crowdology. There’s some inconsistent information floating around, which may be the result of recent changes. Most reviews I read indicate you can join as either a UK or US resident at least 18 years old. But when I joined, the website says US residents only.

Crowdology states that surveys pay from $.40 to $10 or more depending on the length and type of survey. Supposedly, they are also short and can be completed in anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes.

How Does Crowdology Work?

As with all survey sites, the first step is to complete a simple sign-up form and then confirm your email.

If you want to qualify for as many surveys as possible, the next step is to complete your profile. Crowdology organizes profile questions in categories. As the green checks indicate, I completed all the available categories.

The terms of use indicate you will receive emails of surveys for which you qualify. The site also suggests there may be occasional opportunities to participate in Focus Groups or telephone surveys. You can also login to the website and click a “Find Survey” button to see if anything is currently available.

One of their prominently displayed claims sounds interesting:

“Earn money from day one with Crowdology.”

In my case, that is not a truthful claim. I joined 2 days ago and have yet to see a single survey show up in my inbox. In their “tips for success” section, the primary emphasis is on completely all profile questions, and I have followed that suggestion. I can’t say for sure that your experience will be the same as mine.

Success with paid surveys is very dependent on your demographic characteristics. So, you may see different results based on your unique profile. But, to be honest, I don’t think I would count on that. The lack of surveys is one of the more frequent complaints about this survey site.

Based on my experience, I would also not recommend using that “Find Survey” button.” I keep filling out pre-qualification questions and then am told I’m not a good fit but can try again. So far, the result is a continuous series of 12 disqualifications and a lot of wasted time.

One more point I would like to make here relates to the quality of the profile questions. I have a pet peeve with some survey providers, and Crowdolgy falls into this group. The questions are poorly written and designed, which ends up meaning there is frequently no correct answer for my situation. It makes me nuts!

Is There a Mobile App?

Crowdology does not have there own app. However, there is a mobile survey app called OpinionApp that works with multiple survey sites with Crowdology being one of them. OpinionApp is available from both the App Store and Google Play.

How Will You Get Paid?

Crowdology has a simplified approach to rewarding survey takers. Unlike many sites, they reward you for all surveys in cash rather than points. The minimum threshold for distribution through PayPal is only $8, which didn’t seem too bad. I belong to other sites where you need to accumulate $30 to get paid.

Another option through Crowdology is an Amazon gift card, which you can request once you earn $10. Apparently, it can take up to 4 weeks to receive your gift card through an email, which seems excessive. Even PayPal may take 4 days to hit your account.

I will point out that there is an excessive number of complaints on review sites like TrustPilot about a failure to receive distributions and accounts being closed with no explanation. Keep in mind there are always complaints about rewards sites, and not all are justified. Not everyone obeys the rules.

But in this case, there are more complaints than I’m comfortable with. Whenever I review a site, it’s my practice to join, try things out for myself, and hopefully request a distribution to be able to share proof of payment. With Crowdology, that’s not going to happen because there are no surveys to take, and I already view this website as a complete waste of time.

Final Thoughts

How does Crowdology work? I’m to be a little cheeky in my response and say not very well! I honestly can’t conclude that this is a legitimate site, and cannot recommend it at this time. You can’t make a ton of money with any survey site, but Crowdology is an extreme disappointment.

If you enjoy sharing your opinions through surveys and potentially influencing brands, there are better opportunities. Based on recent reviews, I suggest you try Rewarding Ways or possibly Inbox Dollars. These are two legit sites that have a lot of surveys available.

With any survey or rewards site, recognize that your earnings will be limited to a few extra dollars a month. The extra cash is pleasant but not life-changing. Are you potentially interested in earning more, but you’re just not sure how to go about it?
