Survey sites are an enormously popular way of earning a little extra cash. And, there are good reasons for that popularity. They’re free to join (at least the legit ones are), the tasks are simple, and completing surveys doesn’t require any special skills.

What Is Ipsos I-Say?

I-Say is a paid survey website that is owned by Ipsos Group, which is a multinational marketing and public opinion research firm headquartered in Paris, France. Founded in 1975 by CEO Didier Truchot, Ipsos Group operates in more than 88 countries around the world and is one of the top 10 research firms worldwide.

Ipsos I-Say has more than 3 million members. Residents of the US, Canada, and the UK who are 18 or older may join the platform. Participants contribute viewpoints and perceptions on a wide variety of current trends and issues. Moreover, they may influence future product development.

How Does I-Say Work?

I-Say is a very simple platform where you earn rewards for completing surveys. Unlike other survey sites, like Inbox Dollars or Rewarding Ways, you can’t participate in different tasks like completing offers, watching videos, reading emails, or downloading apps.

Members with a desire to share their opinions can join for free. Registration is an easy process that involves completing this form:

After clicking on “Sign Me Up,” you will immediately receive an email that must be confirmed. From there, you can log in and begin the profile completion process. Expect prompts and gentle reminders that you will receive a lot more surveys if your profile is up-to-date.

Providing demographic data is an essential component of participation on any survey site. Organizations that request survey data always have a specific target market in mind. You are matched with appropriate polls based on your personal characteristics.

Surveys

All of the surveys offered on this site are unique to I-Say. They do not provide third-party survey opportunities. I was initially hopeful that would result in being asked the same repetitive profiling queries far less often. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Expect 6 to 10 basic demographic questions at the outset of every survey you take.

You receive 45 points for completing your profile. You can then select from available surveys on your dashboard. In my experience, surveys pay either 45 points or 90 points based on length. The 45-minute surveys take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The 90 point surveys claim to be about 30 minutes long. But I will warn you that the one survey I completed in this category took more like 45 minutes, and I found it incredibly tedious. The shorter ones (I completed three) were fine, and the questions seemed well written and straightforward.

As with every platform of this nature, expect the inevitable disqualifications. If an initial query asks if you intend to buy a car in the next 12 months and your response is no, your acceptance into the survey population is unlikely. At other times, you will start a session and then be told that the survey is filled.

I did receive a consolation prize of 5 points when I was bounced out of several studies. So, there’s some recognition of effort expended.

One positive feature is that points get immediately rewarded when you complete an activity. On many sites, it can take hours or even days to see your points credited to your account.

Members receive an email when survey opportunities are available. Alternatively, you can log in to your account and check your dashboard. The number of surveys that are a match for you will vary based on your demographics. But, I-Say indicates that on average, you will get 8 survey invites per month.

Loyalty Points

I-Say offers a loyalty program that rewards action and consistency with bonus points. To encourage folks to stick with it, additional points are awarded based on the number of surveys you complete. For example, after 5 submissions, you get 25 loyalty points. At the high end of the scale, 200 completions results in 600 extra points.

Contests

Members can participate in 3 different on-going contests with attractive prizes. Winners are selected based on drawings. Given the massive membership, your chances of winning will be slight. But games of chance can still be fun.

A drawing is held at the end of 4 months, where 10 random winners receive 5.000 Ipsos points, Each member automatically receives one entry for each survey completed during the 4-month interval.

Poll Predictor

For each survey you complete or attempt, you can choose to participate in a poll predictor contest. You are shown a polling question that users answered with either a Yes or No response. Your objective is to guess the percentage of people polled who answered Yes to the issue.

For example, here are a few of the predictions I attempted:

• Have you ever fallen asleep at work? What percentage of American women answered, Yes?
• Do you own an iPad? What percentage of American mem said, Yes?
• Have you ever sewn an article of clothing? What percentage of American women said, Yes?

As someone who can barely sew on a button, I was blown away that the response to the last question was 83%.

Anyhow, you get entries based on how close your guess was. For instance, a perfect match earns you 25 entries. I received anywhere from 1 to 10 entries for each attempt. There are 4 potential prizes up for grabs, and you can allocate your tickets any way you wish, I chose the $500 Amazon gift card.

The population of members is broken down into 12 segments, and there’s one winner from each segment every two weeks. The questions are somewhat weird, but it’s engaging.

I-Say Trivia Contest

There’s a weekly trivia contest where 5 winners each receive a $20 Amazon gift card. To play trivia, you must download the I-Say app. The mobile app is available for either Apple or Android devices, and also lets you take surveys and make money on the go.

How Will You Get Paid?

Your accumulated Ipsos points are redeemable for cash via PayPal, egift cards, or charitable contributions. Minimums (at least for gift cards) are lower than many other sites, which is nice. By clicking on Rewards in the menu bar, you can browse the redemption catalog.

Many other choices exist, but here are a few options starting at 500 points, which equates to $5.

I was a little disappointed to learn that a PayPal distribution requires more points and involves a fee. To receive $15 via PayPal, you need 1,530 points. Still, some sites have a minimum distribution of $30. After 3 days of membership, I racked up 305 points. So, a $5 reward isn’t far off.

Any contest winnings are handled separately, and winners get notified by email.

Egift cards requested get sent instantly. But, PayPal distributions are painfully long and may take 3 to 4 weeks to process. For those who need instant gratification, that might be a poor choice. And yet, I-Say is very upfront about this. To me, it’s perhaps an inconvenience but not indicative of anything underhanded.
