What is a GPT Site? Are You Looking For a Little Extra Cash?

Today’s post on what is a GPT site may be intriguing for folks who would enjoy a bit of extra pocket money each month. We all enjoy a little treat now and again, don’t we?

GPT websites are increasingly becoming popular as one of many options for making a little money online. As a result, more and more programs are cropping up.

You’re in the right place for learning the ins and outs of GPT platforms and how they work. Moreover, we’ll discuss the qualities you should look for when choosing a site. Finally, based on my experiences in reviewing many programs over the years, I’ll share with you my top 3 picks.

So, let’s get to it, shall we?

How to make more money online than is possible with a GPT site

What is a GPT Site?

A GPT (Get-Paid-To) website is a platform where you can earn rewards for performing a bunch of different online activities. Specific tasks will vary somewhat by platform but may include any or all of the following:

  • taking surveys
  • earning rebates by shopping with online vendors
  • signing up for free trials or accepting other offers
  • watching videos
  • playing games
  • surfing the Internet
  • opening emails
  • downloading apps or browser extensions
  • participating in contests
  • referring friends or family members

These are often called rewards sites and are free to join. Tasks are easy, they can be fun, and anyone can do them. One beautiful thing is that you can usually start earning right away. In fact, some platforms give you an award just for signing up.

GPT websites are consumer engagement platforms that are hubs for market research. Advertisers are eager for consumer feedback that they use to shape product development decisions. So, they roll out surveys that are used to collect and analyze data.

Due to the broad audience of members, rewards sites are also great forums for promoting existing products through offers or in the form of cash back on purchases. The website facilitates connecting vendors with their members for a fee. The fees are then shared with members who participate in activities.

Membership in a digital rewards program can be an excellent way to supplement your budget with a bit of extra cash. As long as you manage your expectations, you won’t be disappointed with these activities. You do need to understand that your earning potential is minimal.

Realistically, you can earn between $10 and $30 per month on this type of site by completing tasks. You may receive a little more in the form of discounts if you make major purchases, but you have to recognize those are savings versus true income and expenditures are required first. So, be sure it’s something you were going to buy anyway.

No one is quitting their day job based on earnings from a GPT website. But, there’s nothing wrong with a few extra bucks a month that can add up over the course of a year. I know a lot of people who stash the additional earnings for the holidays.

Key Features to Look for When Choosing a GPT Site

So, the idea is to use your downtime to make a few extra bucks. Therefore, you want to choose programs that give you the best shot at maximizing your return. Most programs that are free to join are legit. But some are better than others, and a few have policies that are a little more questionable.

Here are some factors to take into consideration when choosing amongst your different options because you don’t want to waste time with less effective alternatives.

A Variety of Ways to Make Money

Look for a site that has as many of the tasks listed above as possible. Generally speaking, surveys tend to be the bread and butter of these platforms. But avoid sites that don’t offer much else because survey availability can sometimes be spotty. And you may have difficulties qualifying for those that are available.

A Clean and Intuitive Interface

You’ll find that some platforms are much more user-friendly than others. Look for easy to navigate menus, help screens, and maybe even community forums where you can ask questions. Poorly designed sites can result in a lot of wasted effort.

Numerous Online Vendors Offering Rebates or Offers

We all do a lot of shopping online today, and vendor rebates are always welcome. You want a site with strong vendor relations where you can earn the best discounts from both the most popular retailers and also the companies that you most often buy from.

Low Minimum Payout Thresholds

I strongly suggest that you investigate payout thresholds carefully. This is an area where a great deal of variability exists. In some cases, you can cash out as little as $1 in earnings. In other cases, you have to accumulate $25 to get paid. When compensation is a few cents per survey or pennies for each video watched, a $25 threshold can take a long time to achieve.

PayPal as a Payout Option

When it comes time to redeem your rewards, many sites will offer gift cards to various establishments in different denominations. Gift cards are not necessarily a bad thing, especially if they’re delivered electronically. I often opt for an Amazon gift card because I shop there all the time, and the cards are easy for me to apply to my account.

But nothing really beats cold, hard cash. There are bound to be times when cash best meets your needs. And, the ability to have funds transferred directly to your PayPal account is super convenient. I like to avoid the sites that want to mail me a check because it’s too time-consuming. Instant PayPal deposits spoil me!

3 Top Choices of Legit GPT Sites

The programs that follow are my three favorites. I’m a member of all of them and have had very positive experiences that make me comfortable recommending these sites to readers. You can also read my full reviews on each of these platforms.

Offernation

Offernation is a well-done site that ticks off all of my requirements. You can make money for taking surveys, watching videos, completing offers, and participating in cash contests. This is also a premier option for those who really enjoy offering opinions through surveys.

The Offernation GPT Site

This site has one of the most extensive listings of surveys I’ve ever seen. The payouts are pretty decent, and there are no limits on the number of surveys you can attempt in a day.

What really impressed me is that you can cash out through PayPal with as little as $1 in your account. I put this to the test by cashing out $1 on the first morning I joined. The funds were in my PayPal account within 2 hours. So, it could be a good option if you need cash quickly.

GrabPoints

GrabPoints is another site worth investigating where you can earn points for a variety of simple tasks, including sharing your opinions on surveys, viewing videos, completing offers, downloading apps, and referring friends and family.

The GrabPoints GPT Site

Like Offernation, GrabPoints functions as a survey portal. So, there are a lot of opportunities to share your opinions with brands. They also claim to have better survey compensation rates than their competitors.

It’s a clean and easy to navigate website with a lot of high-quality offers. And, you can cash out your earnings with as little as $3.

Swagbucks

I have a soft spot for Swagbucks because it’s the first GPT site I joined. This is one of the most popular programs of its kind on the Web with multiple ways to earn. They keep people engaged by routinely posting Swag Code alerts on their Facebook page.

I just cashed out a $10 Amazon gift card (one of many I’ve earned over the years).

Swagbucks Gift Card Notification

The Swagbucks site is an excellent place to check before making significant online purchases because they offer some attractive discounts with many major brands. In fact, if you install the SwagButton, you’ll get pop up reminders on any affiliated websites that you visit.

The one thing I don’t like as well about Swagbucks is that you need $25 to redeem your Swagbucks through PayPal. But, I overlook it because Amazon gift cards are available in much smaller denominations.

Are There Better Options for Making Money Online?

As stated above, GPT sites offer nice but very limited opportunities to earn. There definitely are ways to make a lot more money in the online space. Of course, more lucrative avenues also require significantly more work. But if you’re prepared to invest some effort in creating an online business like mine, you might want to check out my top recommended solution.

Final Thoughts

If you were wondering “what is a GPT site,” I hope I satisfied your curiosity today. There are far more lucrative approaches you could take to make money online. But, GPT sites can be a good path for those who are either unable or unwilling to invest more time and effort.

A little extra cash in your pocket is a good thing! If you decide to pursue the GPT route, I suggest you sign up at all three sites listed above. After all, it’s free, and in this way, you can broaden your options.

  1. Hi Linda,

I really enjoyed reading your article on what is a GPT site.

I guess that the income from them is limited so I’m not going to be retiring any time soon!

I clicked on one of your links and noticed you recommend Wealthy Affiliate. Would you say this is a better bet? Thanks in advance, Andrew

    • Hi Andrew,

Yes, GPT sites are indeed a path to very limited monthly income. In general, I wouldn’t plan on earning more than $10 – $20 extra per month. Obviously, you’re not going to be paying the bills with that. So, you probably want to keep your day job until you find something more lucrative 🙂

Wealthy Affiliate is an outstanding online platform offering training and all the resources you need to become a successful affiliate marketer. I’ve been a member for about 3.5 years now and can’t say enough positive things about it.

As an affiliate marketer, you definitely have the possibility of earning a far greater income than you would ever see from a GPT site. In fact, many people on the WA platform earn a full-time income as an affiliate marketing blogger. However, you do need to be aware that blogging is a long-term strategy that will take work and commitment.

If the idea of creating an online business around something you are passionate about is appealing to you, I recommend you check out a free starter membership at Wealthy Affiliate to see precisely what is involved. There are no downsides to checking it out because a starter membership does not entail a commitment of any kind.

Good luck in your endeavors, and thanks for commenting!

  2. Hi Linda and thank you for sharing this interesting and helpful post, I am looking for a little bit of extra cash at the moment. My website is in its early stages and obviously needs a lot of time and effort to make it grow, so being realistic I can’t simply expect to make money straight away. So in the meantime, I am hoping to make extra money elsewhere and here you have given me some very interesting and helpful ideas of doing just that, I am now going to do some research on GrabPoints and Swagbucks and hopefully earn some extra income, thank you for sharing.

    • Hi Russ,

Congratulations on starting your own website! These are exciting times for you, I’m sure. And, I’m glad to read that you have realistic expectations regarding the growth of your online business. It does take time to grow a following and establish your authority within your niche. GPT sites might be a way to earn a little spending money as you develop your site.

I’m happy to share, and I wish you well. Thanks for commenting!

  3. Oh, this is very nice to read. Actually I didn’t know that they are all called GPT sites. I have tried Swagbucks before and I really did make some extra money on it but I wasn’t able to make a passive income with it. It is worthy to note that platforms like the ones you have added here are good only to make extra income and not full-time income. Thank you for opening my eyes to what they are called and how to find better sites.

    • Hi Henderson,

You’re absolutely correct that Swagbucks and similar GPT sites will only earn you a small amount of pocket money each month. These sites pay you to complete certain small tasks and are certainly not a source of passive income.

      Thanks for joining the conversation!

  4. Thanks for sharing this informative article, it’s really a fact that some of us are seriously looking out for an extra means of earning extra cash. I think GPT is nice and interesting, it’s really thoughtful of you to have listed the criterion to be checked when choosing a Get paid to site, they will serve as a guide for those interested in taking that path. You mentioned some other opportunities that are more lucrative, I’ll so much appreciate it if you can share some with us sometime. It’s nice reading through your article, I’ve learned a lot.

    • Hi Drea,

It’s true that many people are eager to generate additional income with a side hustle, or even to work online full-time. There definitely are more lucrative approaches than GPT sites. I strongly recommend you consider niche blogging which is what I do myself.

A niche blog requires hard work and persistence. But for those who are motivated to pursue this path, the financial rewards can be excellent over time. Once you have an established blog that gets regular visitors, there are multiple ways to monetize your blog.

  5. Hello Linda, the range to make money online lately keeps getting wider and I’m glad there are some sites who are truly involved in it without wasting the time of those going into it. For some time now, I have tried some of these GPT programs like taking surveys and watching videos and the payment isn’t as good as promised. The suggestions you have given make me glad because any one who comes across this post wouldn’t need to go far looking for legit sites. I look forward to reading extensively about these sites.

    • Hi Benson,

To be sure, the income you can earn with GPT sites is minimal. I can also attest to the fact that some sites are better than others. If making a little extra pocket money each month interests you, the 3 GPT sites in this post are some of the best choices out there.

They’re all free to join. So, it can’t hurt to check them out and see if they’ll work for you. Thanks for jumping into the conversation and good luck!

  6. It really is very nice to read this post that you have written on GPT sites. I like the way you have first defined it before giving examples of what to do, how to find them and giving examples of these kinds of sites. I think I have heard about swag bucks before but there are some negative reviews about it. Which do you think give you a high possibility of returns?

    Reply
    • Hi John,

First, let me say that all GPT or dedicated survey sites will have negative reviews. And, some no doubt deserve the reviews. However, in many cases, member dissatisfaction arises from the fact that people have highly unrealistic expectations of these types of websites.

Let me repeat that you cannot earn a significant amount of income on a GPT site. Realistically, you can make $10 – $20 per month. Many people find that helpful. Especially, if they save up their rewards for a couple of months. The 3 sites in this post are all legit choices.

It wouldn’t hurt to join them all (it’s free) and see if you can start cashing in a bit. Good luck and thanks for chiming in!

  7. Hi Linda, this is just the type of article I’m looking at currently, although I will hold my hands up and say I couldn’t remember exactly what GPT stood for, just what it was, kind of. I have done some of the survey sites before now but it was a fair few years ago and so much seems to have changed since then.

After my evenings worth of digital trials and tribulations, I usually spend the last half-hour watching videos or reading, both on my PC. lately everything seems to have become a bit jaded, my favorite series has just finished and I’ve been wondering if I can put that last thirty minutes of the day to better use.

All three of your recommendations look to be great possibilities but it has to be said that I am favoring towards the Offernation site, maybe the GrabPoints coming in a close second. I could try them both and see how I get on. The Paypal option, paying out at lower rates, is a must for me. It gives you so many more options. What am I waiting for?

    • Hi Twack,

I’m not sure what you’re waiting for. 🙂 Both Offernation and GrabPoints have several easy tasks and a very low PayPal threshold. They’re free so I would definitely sign up for both. You might be able to put a few bucks in your pocket during your available downtime.

Good luck. I hope it works out well for you. Thanks for taking the time to engage!

  8. There are so many  GPT sites and many of them are scams as well. I am not particularly into them as the genuine ones pay so little. Maybe just enough for a cup of tea every single day. Thank you for letting us know that no one is really quiting their job to get into GPT. You have explained well what to look out for when deciding on these sites. This will save someone a lot of frustration and disappointments. Offernation does work and is one of the genuine sites. Thank you for this honest and useful article.

    • Hi Carol,

It sounds like you’ve tried Offernation and achieved some success with it. It’s true that the earnings you can expect from GPT sites are minimal. But some people still feel that an extra $10 – $20 per month is worthwhile. You’re right that some of the GPT sites out there are scams. Others are legit but still make it very difficult for members to cash out. That’s why I wanted to give people some information on 3 of the best sites out there.

I appreciate you reading and taking the time to comment!
